Screen Printed Rock Art, Original Paintings and PhotographyHello All...My name is Jeff Wood. Drowning Creek Studio is my home where I create old school rock poster art and practice photography.Located right outside the music town of Athens, GA, the studio primarily produces screen printed poster art for the music and entertainment business.
I have been creating art commercially for over 30 years. In the past several years I have jumped back into photography focusing on concert work, but dabbling in a little bit of everything. The photography was an extension of my digital art and is letting me explore new digital painting methods.
Drowning Creek's work was honored by being heavily presented in the book "The Art of Modern Rock" by Grushkin and King as well as several other poster related books and publications.
I have collaborated with many artists including Johnny Thief, Mikio, Richard Biffle, Stainboy, Dave Crossland, Ralph Walters, Jason Goad, and Matt Lukesh to name a few.
Past Design and Printing Clients include: MTV, High Times Magazine, Warner Brothers Music, Klipsch Audio, Ford, Harley Davidson, PHISH, Allman Bros Band, Derek Trucks, Jam Cruise, Langerado Festival, HT Cannabis Cup, Wakarusa Festival, Caribbean Holidaze, Bonnaroo, String Cheese Incident, Perpetual Groove, Umphrey's McGee, Nashville Pussy, Kings X, The Dead, Widespread Panic, REM, Green Day and many, many more.
On 2D artwork I primarily work from sketches and photos that are taken into my Macbook Pro and elaborated on using a Wacom Cintiq 21ux monitor/tablet. I use Photoshop CS3 and Painter X as my primary creative software.
All screen printing is done in the studio using a M&R Saturn Platinum 2335 flatbed press using UV, waterbase inks and Golden acrylic paint.
I use a Canon 40D and 10D along with various lens for my photography needs. I use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop for darkroom needs, processing and alteration.

I have admired your work for a while also. You have an amazing body of work. Presently I'm moving back into painting and art prints.
I haven't touched my oil paints in 25 years, but this past spring while in Amsterdam I picked up a set of Talen Rembrandts. I hoped it would inspire me to tackle oils again. Well, the other night I finally broke them out and played a bit. I fell in love all over again. I think since I had worked on my computer for so long, I had forgotten how fun it was to get some paint on me, and a canvas.
I'll be posting some new work in the coming days including a new Hendrix painting I just completed.
Let's stay in touch.

How's the oil painting coming along?
I like the new drowning creek site too. I hope the gallery/store will be fully functional soon!
Take care and perhaps I'll talk to you soon!
